I Graduated, Yay! Now I have to convince the employer, that I worth a $100K job

Image
I worth a lot more, but I will settle for a $100K for now Well done. You have crossed the first line of victory towards a bright future. You have earned your Master of Science in Learning Technology. An outstanding academic accomplishment. Only 9.3% of the nation’s adults achieve this feat.   Let me congratulate you for the big success. You are ready now to prove your earned skills to the world. But there is another hurdle to get over with, and that is the job interview. Your discussions with your potential employer would determine if you’re a good fit for the role he is looking for.   At the same time, understand that interviewing is a two-way street. It is a mutually-beneficial conversation, for both the employer and you, not a race to get hired. For many job seekers, both those fresh out of school and more seasoned professionals, interviewing can be a highly confusing and anxiety-provoking process that leaves even the most experienced professionals flustered, inse...

Facebook and I I am in trouble. I hate its security My wife knows the name of my girlfriend The above title of my blog may be funny, but what if it was true? My sweet wife would have made me sleep till eternity six feet under by now. Our sensitive information, whether that be the intellectual property, financial figures, personal information, or other types of data any unauthorized access or exposure could have very negative consequences. Multimedia and its hosting organizations transmit this sensitive data across networks for storage, data manipulation, report generation and for other purposes in the course of doing businesses. As the volume of information and sensitivity increases, the safeguarding of such data becomes a nightmare for these organizations. Unfortunately, social media has failed miserably in protecting its users’ data. If we look back at some of the recent cybersecurity news headlines, it’s clear to see that it’s been a year full of ransomware and cov...

Could my thoughts be compared with a Scholarly Writing?

Image
The Scholarly Writing and I It is very likely that awkwardness and occasional hostility may arise if a scholar comes across a poorly written piece of academic writing. Scholarly or academic writing is the genre of writing used in all academic fields. Scholarly writing is not better than journalism, fiction, or poetry; it is just a different category. Because most of us are not used to of such writing, it can feel unfamiliar and intimidating, but it is a skill that can be learned by immersing yourself in scholarly literature.   All students in the academic world are required to do a ton of reading, involve in discussions and produce scholarly writing in everything from discussion posts to dissertations.  It is expected of all in academia to have a high level of writing skills. Basic grammar rules, an adequate vocabulary, and the use of complexity (written English is expected to be more complex than spoken language).  It is necessary to avoid objectivity a...

Journey Beyond the Horizon

Image
Is it really a career change or I just started my journey  beyond the horizon? Life has taken many turns for me. Becoming a mechanical engineer was not my first choice. I was forced into this field since I could go to the engineering school and work at the same time in order to take care of my family. Being the eldest child and no father to take care of us, I had to be the bread earner, medical school was not an option. Goals, dreams, and aspirations; these are the things my life has always revolved around.  My question: What does one do with all the opportunities that life has presented?  Life made another turn and I was laid off and could not find a decent job as an engineer. Selling computers at a major retailer and self-teaching the IT courses landed me a job in Microsoft Corporation. Walla, a very decent job, I couldn’t complain and thought that I would retire from that company with some decent money. Not so, my dear, life was not so sympathetic this time...
